Web experience / School communication
A clearer path
into school life.
I independently designed and developed ISB’s bilingual Wix Studio website, connecting school information with admissions, careers and everyday content updates.
The work grew beyond the website into brochures, presentations and a shared visual language for the school’s communication.

- Main website pages
- 31
- Website languages

- CMS-managed items

Plus a dedicated Open Day page

Structured content, including staff and careers
At a glance
- Challenge
- Help families and applicants navigate a large school website while making recurring content easier to maintain.
- Pivotal decision
- Improve the existing hierarchy and connect structured content to careers applications and Open Day communication.
- Outcome
- 31-page bilingual website, 100+ CMS-managed items, and careers and Open Day workflows. Delivered scope, not performance metrics.
- My role
- Digital Experience Designer & Wix Studio Developer: structure, UX/UI, independent build, testing and launch.
- Duration
- October 2024–October 2025; main website built in two months.
- Team / collaborators
- Riccardo Testoni, Janecke Aarnaes and ISB marketing; ISB supplied copy, Italian translations and photography.
01 / A large site, several audiences
Keep the familiar structure.
Make the routes clearer.
The International School of Bologna serves families from Early Years through High School. Its website needs to support prospective parents, current families, teachers and job applicants without making every visitor navigate the same path.
The previous Wix Classic site used long dropdown menus without hover feedback. I kept the useful page structure and redesigned how visitors moved through it, with navigation suited to each screen size.
Desktop
Scan the school at a glance.
I grouped related pages in a mega menu, bringing school information, academics, admissions, school life and careers into view.
Mobile
Open one group at a time.
The same content hierarchy became an accordion menu. Families could expand the area they needed while keeping the other groups compact.
02 / Identity, languages & screens
One school identity.
Across every layout.
I retained the school’s logo and core colours, then introduced updated typography, brand-colour gradients, larger photography and reusable page sections. Custom icons and restrained interactions supported the information.
I adjusted navigation, content order, spacing and image crops for mobile. ISB supplied the Italian translations; I implemented both languages and checked the layouts across screen sizes.

03 / A website the team could maintain
Change the content.
Keep the page structure.
I built the site around structured content so the school could update recurring information without redesigning each page. The content management system (CMS) supported more than 100 managed items, including staff and careers content.
I kept the publishing tools distinct: CMS collections supplied connected page content, Wix Blog handled articles, and Wix Events handled events and registration.
CMS collections
Staff & vacancies.
Structured entries feed connected layouts and dynamic pages.
Wix Blog
News & articles.
The school publishes editorial updates through the blog.
Wix Events
Events & registration.
Event details and registration stay within the event workflow.

I connected Wix Analytics, Meta Pixel and Google Analytics to support the school’s review of website activity.
04 / The technical challenge
Connect each vacancy
to its application.
I created the careers collections, listing page and dynamic vacancy pages, then connected role details to the application form and email communication with Wix’s Velo development tools.
I defined the workflow, data structure and interface, using ChatGPT as coding support for advanced Velo work. I implemented and tested the final system myself; there was no separate web developer.
Careers / From vacancy to application
- 01
Publish
ISB adds a vacancy to the CMS
- 02

- 03

The dynamic page presents the role details
- 04

- 05
Notify
ISB receives the application; the candidate receives a thank-you email

05 / Admissions communication
Carry registration
through to the reminder.
Open Day visitors could arrive through search, referrals or Meta advertising, including directly on the dedicated landing page. I connected that page with Wix Events, a custom registration form and automated emails.
Families received confirmation and reminder messages. The admissions team received the registration details, connecting the public website with the people following up.

Open Day / From first visit to event preparation
- 01
Arrive
A family follows search, a referral or a Meta advertisement
- 02

They visit the school, admissions or dedicated Open Day page
- 03

They complete the event registration form
- 04

- 05

06 / Migration & delivery
Carry the content.
Check the destinations.
The move to Wix Studio needed to account for the school’s existing URLs and indexed content. I carried across page titles and descriptions, optimised images and alt text, added redirects where required, and checked Google indexing and Search Console after launch.
I tested responsive layouts, forms, emails and analytics. Reusable sections helped me build the main website in two months, with finalisation by February 2025 and continued support during the wider engagement.

07 / Beyond the website
The same visual language.
In the next conversation.
I extended the website’s typography, gradients and icons into a 42-page school brochure, High School Profile, fees brochure, calendar and staff cards. I also designed an animated Open Day presentation, an Information Wheel and custom graphics.
I created the brochures and presentations in Figma, reusing the visual rules across print and screen. The website was bilingual; these additional communication materials were produced in English.
Designed and animated in Figma.

The result
A website connected
to the work of the school.
I delivered a bilingual Wix Studio website with structured content, careers applications and Open Day communication, then carried the same visual system into the school’s marketing materials.
ISB’s Marketing team reported less manual work when updating job vacancies and easier management of staff information after the CMS setup. The team could do both updates via phone as well.
I worked directly with Riccardo Testoni, Marketing Director, Janecke Aarnaes, Head of School, and the ISB marketing team. They supplied school information, copy, Italian translations and photography; I owned the structure, UX/UI, development, testing and launch.
“I want to thank Danish for designing and developing such a beautiful website for our school.”
